Full Description
A circular kiln with associated quarry, emptying hollow and spoil heap of probable late 18th to early 19th century date. A terraced trackway was built up on to the kiln bringing coal to the top of the kiln. The kiln is not represented on any maps of the area, although its quarry appear on the OS maps from 1880. It is one of line of four kilns (see SMR's 11682, 11685 and 11686) that were probably planned as an industrial complex. (1)
