Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

A moderate sized stone quarry cut into a massive gritstone bed with two main working areas and a single dressing floor on the flat crest of the spoil heap. Below this are the ruins of a small shed, presumably for tools. The tramway [SMR 31699] leaves the quarry to the south east. The quarry was dug in the 1820's to provide stone for lining the Bunsal Tunnel on the Cromford and High Peak Railway. (1)
