Full Description

A building or buildings are shown on the west side of Matlock Road on Sanderson's map of 1835. (1) A row of four adjoining buildings is shown on late 19th century and early 20th century maps and named 'Mount Pleasant'. A well is also depicted. (2-4) The 1891 census shows two families living at 'Mount Pleasant', namely Peter Argyle, a coal miner, and his family (wife, two children and two grandchildren, and John Jacques, also a coal miner, with his family (wife and six children). (5)
