Full Description
A regular round mound on a low natural limestone ridge top was identified during field survey in 2003. It is possible that this mound is a prehistoric round barrow, although it could be a natural limestone formation. The mound is 17.1m long, 17m broad and up to 0.6m high. The sides are smooth and there is no sign of an excavation hollow or other disturbance. The mound appears to have been ploughed-over within the recent past. It is situated upon a limestone ridge with views down valleys to the east, south and north. There are no recorded barrows or the sites of lost or destroyed barrows in the immediate vicinity of this mound. However, it is known that a number of genuine barrows have escaped documentation. (1)
