Full Description

The 1st ed. 25" OS map of c. 1880 shows a bar across the road near the entrance to Woodthorpe Hall, with a rectangular building, presumably the toll house, on the south side of the road. It is marked 'Woodthorpe TP'. (1) 'At the gates [of Woodthorpe Hall], until two years ago, stood a very old Toll-Bar, now demolished'. (2)
