There is a Particular Baptist Chapel situated here on the 1st edition OS map. (1) The Baptists have a chapel at Birches Lane, a small village inhabited chiefly by colliers. (2) There is a Baptist chapel at Birches Lane, which was built in 1863. It has 250 sittings. (3) It is still in use as a place of worship [2011]. (4)
