Monument record MDR12744 - Victorian post box, London Road, Buxton

Type and Period (1)

  • (Victorian to Edwardian - 1880 AD? to 1903 AD?)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

In 1975 a Victorian post box, set into the wall on London Road, Buxton, at approx. SK 06047262, was described as being in good condition. (1) Examination of Google Streetview in 2011 indicates that the wall into which the post box is set has clearly altered when compared with that shown on the County Treasure photograph. It is possible that the post box has also been replaced, although the Streetview image is too blurred to be certain. (2)
