Milepost, junction of Station Road and the A6, Darley Dale, an early 19th century structure. This cast iron plate, which is painted white with black lettering, has a shaped top. It reads 'TO / LONDON / 146 MILES'. Below this, the plate is divided by a vertical bar into two halves. One half reads 'BAKEWELL 6.M.', the other 'MATLOCK / 4.M.'. This mileage is actually incorrect and should read 'Matlock 2'. (1) From the National Heritage List for England: '1.
