Milestone, B5056, Kniveton, an 18th century structure. 'Flat milestone with a shaped top. One side is inscribed 'TO / ASHBOURNE / 3 / MILES', the other 'TO / BAKEWELL / 14 / MILES'.' (1) 'On the Ashbourne-Bakewell turnpike.' (2) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 15 SE PARISH OF KNIVETON BRADBOURNE ROAD 1/64 (West Side) Mile Stone(south west of Horsley Farm) II Mile stone. C18. Flat stone inscribed TO/ASHBOURNE/3/MILES, TO/BAKEWELL/ 14/MILES. Listing NGR: SK1979451167.' (3)
