Monument record MDR12946 - Finger post, Leadmill, Highlow

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

A cast iron fingerpost stands in Leadmill at the junction of the B6001 and the road to Abney. A photograph taken in March 2007 shows the post to be topped by a ball, and with a wooden arm marked 'ABNEY 2½'. A shield on the side of the post contains the lettering 'DCC / 1938'. (1) Viewing the site on Google Streetview suggests that the wooden arm is now missing and that only the post survives. (2)
