Full Description
There is a Mission Hall situated here on the 2nd edition 25" OS map of c. 1900 that is not present on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880. (1-2)
St Mary's Mission was originally built in 1880 at the junction of Station Road and Alvenor Street. It was in use for 15 years before the building of St Bartholomew in 1895 [SMR 21677]. St Mary's Mission was one of two 'Tin Tabernacles' in Ilkeston, and was one of the first missions to be set up by the Church Army. (3)
