There is a chapel situated here on the 2nd edition 25" OS map of c. 1900 that is not present on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880. This is presumably the chapel mentioned by Bulmer below. (1-2) The Wesleyans erected their first chapel in Newhall in 1816 [see SMR 26939]. The present one in High Street was built in 1882, at a cost of £1,335, exclusive of the site, which was purchased previously. (3) The chapel is still standing, but is no longer in use as a place of worship [2011]. (4-5)
