Full Description

'Alport Stone' is located within Alport Quarry on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880, and so presumably pre-dates the late 19th century. (1) A popular stone landmark on top of Alport Hill that was left standing when Alport Quarry was worked. The site is owned by the National Trust. (2) Alport Stone is still marked on modern OS mapping [2011]. (3) There are several pictures of the stone on Google Maps Street View [2011]. (4)
