Full Description

The 1st ed. 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880 shows a tramway running south from an extensive area of coal shafts on Glasshouse Common to a steel works by the North Midland Railway, with a branch running further south to a wharf on the Chesterfield Canal. (1) The tramway had disappeared by the end of the 19th century, as it is not shown on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map. (2)
