Type and Period (2)

Protected Status/Designation

  • World Heritage Site

Full Description

A pair of gate-posts of a similar style to toll-bar gate-posts are located by the Bridge Inn, where the footpath to Peckwash Mill starts, but there are no remains of the ancient gate attached to them. (1) Two large stone gate posts, probably not in their original location and there are no remains of the original gate will have stood between them at one time. They are possibly turnpike gate posts. (2) Looking at Google Maps Street View, the gate posts are still extant [2012]. (3)
