Full Description

Gypsum was brought to Scropton from Fauld gypsum mine near Hanbury, Staffs, via a narrow-gauge tramway that operated between 1889 and 1949. The routeway of this still shows near the village as an embankment that runs to the south-west from the railway crossing, although a section has been removed where it bridged Foston Brook. (1)
