Monument record MDR13358 - Ebenezer (Independent) Chapel (site of), High Street, Killamarsh

According to White's Directory, "the Independent Chapel, is a small neat stone building, erected in 1852". (1) According to Bulmer's Directory, there was a Congregational Chapel dating from 1852 in Killamarsh, enlarged twice. (2) According to Kelly's Directory, the Congregational Chapel built in 1852 in Killamarsh was turned into a Sunday School in 1905 when a new Chapel was built elsewhere. (3) There is an Ebenezer Chapel situated at Sheepcote Hill, Killamarsh on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map c. 1880, presumably that referred to by White in 1857, Bulmer in 1895 and Kelly in 1912. On the 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey map c. 1900 it appears to have been extended to the north. (4) (5) On the 3rd edition 25" Ordnance Survey map this building is shown as a Sunday School. (6) Modern maps show this building has been demolished and replaced by a residence. (7)
