Full Description
A shallow depression on the north side of Cutler Brook, between the old school (Cutler Cottage) and Park House, over an area of undifferentiated terrace gravels. It is between two and three metres in depth, and is roughly circular in plan with a diameter of c. 70 metres. The depression is marked by a fairly steep back wall to the north and east, with the western end being open to the road, implying that the quarry was cut back in an easterly direction. Although a date for the quarry is not certain, a plan probably dating from the early 19th century shows an area of gravel working in an adjacent close on the west side of the road. The gravel may have been used for paths within the park and around the house. (1)
