Full Description

Gas is supplied to Chapel-en-le-Frith from works on the north side of town, and is the propertry of the Chapel-en-le-Frith Gas Company. (1) There is a gas works situated here, on the north side of Chapel-en-le-Frith, on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880. It appears to expand by the 3rd edition 25" OS map of the early 20th century, and is still in use by the 4th edition 25" OS map of 1937-8. (2-4) The gas works has since been demolished and the site has been redeveloped in to a housing estate [2013]. (5-6)
