Full Description

Redcarr Hillside Quarry was included in a report of a study into the potential to re-establish the roofing slate industry of the region. Two small quarries around 2m deep in mature woodland showing very good flags. Geology is Wingfield Flags - very near to the base. To the north-west this splits off as a separate leaf. (1) An Old Quarry is shown near the edge of Hardwick Wood on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880. (2)
