Full Description

Press Quarry was included in a report of a study into the potential to re-establish the roofing slate industry of the region. Medium scale quarry long abandoned and now with mature trees. Faces up to 8m with some flaggy material. Geology is Wingfield Flags - here relatively thin but flaggy. (1) An Old Quarry is shown near Press on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880.
