Monument record MDR13608 - Possible barrow, Johnson Lane, Sheldon

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

A possible round barrow was newly discovered next to the top end of Sheldon village in 2011. The earthwork comprises a reasonably well-defined circular feature, c. 20m across and 1m high, with a flat but somewhat uneven top as if previously robbed or levelled. There is a small wall-builders' quarry adjacent to the mound but this is far too small to suggest the mound is spoil. (1)
