Full Description

A small ruined building standing in Station Quarry near Hartington has graffiti etched into the mortar: 'OR 1947 POW XMAS', 'AJDG 1947', 'JB 1947', 'HB 1947'. The lettering is quite faint and could not be photographed. It seems likely that the building was linked to prisoners of war, perhaps from POW camp at Biggin. (1)
