Full Description

A chapel of ease, erected on this site in 1912. The chapel was probably originally the mission church of St Mary in Langley. The roof structure was simplified as part of its relocation. The chapel is clad in corrugated iron sheets beneath a gabled sheet roof. The side elevation has six pairs of lancet windows. The front elevation has a full-width porch with a low lean-to roof. Once common, only six 'tin tabernacles' survive in Derbyshire. Three of these are in Long Eaton and Sawley. Of the three, the Church of St Mary is the only one still in worshipping use. (1)
