Full Description
Cockerhill Quarry was included in a study into the potential to re-establish the roofing slate industry of the South Pennine region. Large quarry now used as a farm. 100m wide with thin rock at top and massive below. Kinderscout Grit. (1)
Two quarries are shown at Cockerhill on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880. (2)
Modern maps show the quarries as disused and partly built in. (3)
