Full Description

Grindsbrook Clough Quarry was included in a study into the potential to re-establish the roofing slate industry of the South Pennine region. A Largely overgrown, possibly landscaped quarry, partly tree covered. Shale Grit, slightly flaggy material. (1) A small quarry is shown situated in Grindsbrook Clough on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880. (2) Modern maps do not show any evidence of a quarry in this location. (3)
