Full Description
Bole Hill Wood Quarry was included in a study into the potential to re-establish the roofing slate industry of the South Pennine region. Medium scale quarry of around 3-4 hectares. Farm rubbish dumped in places. Was probably a source of stone slates together with coarser building stone. In lower part of the Kinderscout Grit. (1)
A Quarry is shown situated in Bolehill Wood on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880. (2)
Modern maps show an extant earthwork but do not label it as a quarry. (3)
