Full Description

Dated 1930 by Robert Lutyens, son of Sir Edwin Lutyens. Department store of 3 storeys. Modern movement with art deco and neo classical motifs; Portland stone masonry, modern fenestration, subdivided by fluted pilasters with wave-motif on frieze. Pair of tower-like motifs with stepped parapet, a pair of pilasters with palmette capitals and decorative steel lattice-work. Right hand section built later to match, post World War II. (1)
