Listed Building record MDR14131 - Four bollards at northeast end of Broad Walk, Buxton

The Broad Walk has original iron lamp standards and bollards, which, along with the Italianate villas that front the Broad Walk, contribute greatly to the character of Buxton spa. (1) There are Victorian bollards at each end of Broad Walk [see SMR 34007 also]. (2) Four grade II listed bollards dating to the mid 19th century. They form part of Sir Joseph Paxton's layout for the Broad Walk. They are cast-iron, and are slightly tapering, each with three tiers of paired horizontal bands and shaped baluster tops. The Broad Walk comprises a series of Victorian villas and walk overlooking the Pavilion Gardens [see SMR 31107]. (3)
