Full Description

Lee Cross Quarry was included in a study into the potential to re-establish the roofing slate industry of the South Pennine region. (1) There is an Old Quarry, including a crane, shown within Stanton Moor Plantation on the 1st edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1880. (2) The 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of c. 1900 shows a quarry named Lees Quarries having taken over the area. (3) Modern maps show Lees Cross Quarries as disused. (4)
