Monument record MDR14265 - Rodsley medieval parkland (possible site of), Rodsley Lane, Rodsley

Type and Period (1)

  • (Medieval - 1066 AD to 1465 AD)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

Late 13th century reference of Rodsley Park explicitly states that the site was to be used for arable land and not as a deer park. There is little evidence to identify where the park is in relation to the village. Possible remains of a wood bank separates Rodsley Wood from the western plough-land. Rodsley may have been passed from the de Ferres to the de Shirleys by the early 13th century. (1)
