Full Description
The line from Stockport reached Whaley Bridge in 1857 and was extended to Buxton in 1863. The railway was built across the old Bridge Street-Whaley Lane route to Disley and a level crossing was provided. Towards the end of the 19th century, the station was rebuilt, Whaley line closed off and diverted, the Jodrell Arms realigned, and the level crossing removed and replaced by a footbridge. (1)
