Full Description
A possible iron smelting site was identified at this location by a member of the public in October 2014. Just as the footpath forks to the left on the way to Moscar House, 125 paces along this left path is a small hill with a mound on top that has been eroded by sheep seeking shelter. Here is an area of iron slag and large pieces of charcoal. Much of this is tumbling down in to the stream. Just before this site is an area of stones, which may have been a previous structure. (1)
