Full Description

SK 0745 6730: Dowall, Earthworks: Three rectangular earthworks on the lower slopes, possibly buildings. It is possible they were once just above the level of the lake behind the dam across the mouth of this dale [SMR 6860]. Possibly medieval in date. (1). Dowall is mentioned in a manuscript dated from 1415. (2).
