Find Spot record MDR14990 - Horseshoe and spearhead finds, Fairfield Road, Buxton

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

A horse shoe and spearhead that were deposited with Buxton Museum in 1999. The finder believes the horseshoe to be the left hand rear shoe of a horse such as an Arab Stallion, which were used by Roman outriders. The spearhead, though badly corroded and certainly unclear on the scan, appears to show the Roman curled snake emblem would around the handle. (1)
