Full Description
Two test pits were excavated over a slight earthwork feature to the north-west of Upper Oldhams Farm, near Arbor Low, in 2013, as part of the Arbor Low Environs Project. The feature appears to be an ovoid bank measuring c. 4m x 2m. It is thought that it may be a ploughed down lime kiln, although there is no associated quarry. There is also an ovoid feature at the southern end of the bank, c. 2.5m in diameter, that may be a barrow. Further excavations of this area are planned. (1)
