  • (Medieval to Post Medieval - 1066 AD to 1900 AD)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

A small exposure, never a proper quarry, in a fault in the Chatsworth Grit. It appears to be a 'strike' fault associated with the large Derwent Valley synecline. It is abouve 5m wide, beside the ancient track from Thacker Hall to Ambergate, at SK 356 515. (1) The trackway mentioned by Authority 1 is presumably the one shown on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880 and on Sanderson's map of 1835. The track is still in use and runs from Thacker Hall Farm, past Thacker Villas, through Thacker Wood and past the sewage works on to Riversdale [2017]. (2, 3, 4)
