Full Description

A field-walking and metal detector survey was carried out in this field in 2013/14: * A very small scatter of late Mesolithic flint was recovered, mainly in the southern half of the field. * A small scatter of fired red clay cubes associated with five sherds of late 3rd/early 4th century AD Roman pottery were recovered from south-western half of the field. Possible location of kilns. * A very small scatter of 13th-14th century medieval sandy ware sherds representing jars and bowls. * One sherd of mid-late 16th century pottery. A scatter of mid 17th-late 19th century pottery, mostly Ticknall pancheon and butterpot ware, with some cream ware and pearl ware vessels represented. (1)
