Full Description
Moderate-size limestone quarry pit with circular limekiln. Possible shallow or backfilled part of quarry lies to the west of a wall built in or shortly after 1691. Limekiln is relatively large and has a feeding ramp from the quarry, with a hollow for the draught flue and probably emptying on the downslope side. Adjacent drystone wall would have made emptying the kiln in this way difficult, suggesting kiln was out of use when the wall was constructed somewhere between 1841-1922. (1)
