Full Description
The entrance to the Civic Centre, built in the 1970s, was once named Farwater Lane. At one time there were cottages, a candle maker's shop, a cobbler's and public house called The Mason's Arms (demolished in the 1940s) all leading down to Lea Brook. Farwater Lane still contiunes up to Gosforth Lane beyond the Civic Centre car parks. Two of the original farmhouses are to be found there, Fanshawe Bank and Moonpenny. (1)
