Full Description
Part of this area is now the car park of the Blue Stoops and was the site of two yards that were crowded with small cottages, workshops and stables. These yards were known as Ward's Yard and Stoop's Yard and developed from the medieval crofts that ran along narrow strips from the High Street to Lea Brook. Chapel Yard on the other side of the road was so called because there was a Quaker Chapel here until the 20th century. It is now a private house. (1)
