Full Description

This area was named after a battle fought during the Crimean War (1854) in which a local regiment, the 95th Derbyshire Infantry (later the 2nd Battalion of Sherwood Foresters) was engaged. Terraced houses built in the 1870s stood here. The area was landscaped after they were demolished in the 1970s. The line of the lane behind the houses and some of the entrance steps and gateways can still be seen. (1)
