Monument record MDR15846 - Mine Shaft, Woodseats Farm, Hearthstone

Type and Period (2)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

Post medieval mine shaft, defined by a vertical or inclined excavation giving access to an underground mine. Located to the south-east of Woodseats Farm, Hearthstone and in close proximity to a second mine shaft entrance (30854). Comparison with the Ordanace Survey maps reveal the feature corresponds directly with a small water feature- possibly a pond. As a result this may point to a mis-interpretation of the LiDAR data. The feature was identified during a LiDAR survey carried out in 2015. (1)
