Full Description

The Old Post Office, No. 2 Derby Road, Belper, an early 19th century building. It is not clear why this building is named as a post office, as it is not labelled as such on either the 1st or 2nd edition 25" OS maps. From the National Heritage List for England: 'DERBY ROAD 1. 5167 (East Side) Milford No 2 (Milford Post Office) SK 3545 5/179 II GV 2. Early C19. A small coursed stone, 2 storey cottage with tiled roof and end brick chimney. Two windows, ground floor has small C19 southern canted bay and northern shop window (latter with plain glazing). Above 2 early C19 casements. Off centre door with stone lintel. Interior has some exposed ceiling beams. Listing NGR: SK3515645165.' (1)
