Full Description

Duke's Buildings, Nos. 2-8 Derby Road, Belper, a late 18th or early 19th century terrace. From the National Heritage List for England: '1. 5167 SK 3445 5/185 SK 3545 5/185 DERBY ROAD (East Side) Milford Duke's Buildings Nos 2 to 8 (consec) II GV 2. Late C18 and early C19. Nos 3 to 8 on Strutt survey of 1792. Industrial housing probably built by Strutts. A terrace of 3 storey coursed stone houses. Roofing now modern pantiles. Brick stacks on ridge. Generally one window each but No 2 of early C19 date has 3 windows and is back to back with No 65 Hopping Hill (qv). Sashes with late C19 glazing and stone lintels but some modern glazing in some spaces. Coped stone garden walls to street boundary. (The name may perpetuate the fact that the Duke of Devonshire owned land in the vicinity; 1797 plan). Listing NGR: SK3500445446' (1)
