Penfold post box, Crich Tramway Museum, Crich, moved to this location from Newton Heath in 1969. From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 35 SW 3/11C MATLOCK ROAD Penfold Post Box at the National Tramway Museum (Formerly listed as Post Box at Tramway Museum, CLIFFSIDE) GV II Penfold letter box designed by John Wornham Penfold and manufactured by Cochrane and Co., Dudley, Birmingham from about 1872-1879. Cast iron. Hexagonal in plan, with a moulded plinth. Main elevation has in set plate stating times of collections with above a posting slot. Moulded and slightly domed top with leaf decoration. This box was originally situated in Wellington Street, Bradford, East Manchester, and removed to its present site in 1969. Listing NGR: SK3453454874.' (1)
