Old Police Station, Matlock Road, Belper, built in 1848. From the National Heritage List for England: 'MATLOCK ROAD 1. 5167 (East Side) Old Police Station SK 3447 NE 1/27 7.1.76. II GV 2. 1848 (White's Directory of 1857). Built by Strutts. One of the earliest police stations in the country. Ashlar with quoins, wide eaves and hipped slates. Off centre chimneys linked by arch over ridge. Two storeys. Three windows (northern bay recessed). Stone doorcase with quoins. Rear cell wing remains. In a prominent position opposite the Strutt Mills. Listing NGR: SK3464348014.' (1)
