Full Description

This field barn, dating to at least the late 19th century, was surveyed as part of the DerwentWISE Field Barns Project in March 2016. Built of rubble and mortar with a single-pitched tile roof, it is a single storey building with evidence of having originally been of two stories. The building, measuring 4.6m x 4.2m, is in good overall condition, structurally sound and watertight and currently used as a storage outhouse. All four walls have had the mortar redone in the last decade. The barn was incorporated into the new house building plot, with fields external of the house suggesting prior use in farming. See survey report for further details. (1) This barn appears on the first edition 25" OS Map of c. 1880. (2)
