Full Description

A ruined barn dating to at least the late 19th century, situated on a curved track just to the north-west of Middleton Top and surveyed as part of the DerwentWISE Field Barn Project in April 2016. The barn is in very bad overall condition and without a roof. Four walls of barn are still clearly evident but standing no higher than chest height, built of irregular shaped stone with quoins at the corners. Measuring 4m x 3m with a doorway in the south-west elevation. See survey report for further details. (1) The barn is shown on the first edition 25"OS Map of c. 1880. (2)
