Full Description

A single-storey barn with a sloping corrugated iron roof dating to at least the late 19th century, situated to the south-west of Middleton on a track called Rain's Lane that leads off a road called ‘The Moor’, surveyed in April 2016 as part of the DerwentWISE Field Barn Project. The 6m x 4m barn is built of irregular stone and has a corrugated iron shed on the north-east elevation, and a wire mesh, wooden-framed enclosure on the south-west elevation. Possibly in use for storage, the barn is a fair overall condition with broken guttering and repairs needed to the mortar work. There are wooden framed windows and a wooden split door in the south-east elevation. See survey report for further details. (1) The barn is shown on the first edition 25"OS Map of c. 1880. (2)
